Gyeongbogkung Palace

The Palace of Shining Happiness

Well, traveling to South Korea has been one of my bucket list in my recent years. I am fascinated with the culture and history that I’ve learned during my elementary days, supplemented by the success of their Korean Pop Culture (BTS, 2ne1, Big Bang, etc.), Korean Dramas (Love in the Moonlight, Legend of the Blue Sea, Boys Over Flowers, Princess Hours, etc.), Korean fashion and makeups, irresistible Korean foods (Bibimbap, Beef Bulgogi, Korean barbeque, etc.), up to this days. And to personally witness those said treasures is a dream, and snowfall moment becomes a consolation most especially those who are living in a non-four season country, like me. And these are only a sliver of heavenly sanity why I yearn to bagpack to Korea.

On my arrival, first thing marked in my mind is to visit Seoul palaces.

ADMISSION FEE:
Ages 19 and above: 3,000KRW = Php130.00 (Applicable for International Visitors and Korean Citizens)
Ages 7 to 18: 1,500KRW = Php65.00 (Applicable for International Visitors)

Seoul has a long history stretching far back into Korea’s dynastic past, as it boasts a route of Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) edifices, who built most of Seoul’s most recognizable landmarks of today including the sought after “Gyeongbokgung Palace”.

Gyeongbogkung Palace. Yes, history as it always felt alive.

Let’s get into the details and take you on an instant snap tour on our recent ultimate picture-perfect South Korean journey.

Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace is also commonly referred to as the Northern Palace because of its location is furthest north when compared to the neighboring palaces. It is arguably the most beautiful, and remains the largest of all five palaces. ( http://english.visitkorea.or.kr )

HOW TO GET THERE:
Access to the palace is also quite easy, take either subway Line 5 to Gwanghamun Station or Line 3 to Gyeongbokgung Station.

The palace grounds are open most days of the week except Tuesday, with interchanging operational hours depending on what months you are going.

We are able to witness the changing of guards at the main gate which they usually do from time to time

*Last admission: 1 hour before closing
*Operating hours are subjected to change depending on the conditions or circumstances.

When you get by reaching the destination isn't nearly as important as what you become by reaching that destination.
